100 things

1. born and raised in MT. some people think my fierce love for and loyalty to this state is a little sick.

2. i grew up the daughter of a cop/sheriff’s deputy, granddaughter of a highway patrolman, and the niece of a probation officer. i can count on one hand the number of laws i have broken.

3. i’m also the daughter and niece of two DMV employees. I’m an excellent driver.

4. i’m also an excellent backseat driver.

5. i’m an only child.

6. some people think this has made me spoiled.

7. they’re right.

8. i’m also one of the most generous people you’ll ever know. because i know how nice it is to be spoiled, i live to spoil others.

9. i send cards and packages like it’s my job — the USPS and Hallmark LOVE ME.

10. i love concerts. i’ve seen the oak ridge boys, charley pride, billy dean, suzy bogguss, neal mccoy, the dirt band, taylor swift, ronnie milsap, rascal flatts, toby keith, mark wills, tracy lawrence, tracy byrd, chris ledoux, kathy mattea, carrie underwood, josh turner, diamond rio, trisha yearwood, sawyer brown, david cook, and GEORGE STRAIT.

11. when garth brooks decides to tour again and comes to wherever i am, i will be the first in line for tickets.

12. you may have noticed that those are all country acts. it isn’t that i don’t LIKE anything else, it’s that i don’t like it enough to buy tickets.

13. when american idol 7 winner david cook tours? i’m there. now THAT i would pay to see (but my roommate WON the tickets! so we didn’t HAVE TO pay!).

14. i’ve also seen sawyer brown. not in concert — wandering through the ag building looking at seed pictures at our county fair(and now i’ve seen them in concert!) .

15. country music’s kinda my thing. so much so that i would eventually like to live/work in the nashville area. i just haven’t decided what i want to do.

16. i’m going to grad school in the fall of ‘09(um. just kidding?).

17. i also said i was going to move to nashville two years ago.

18. i’m really going to grad school. i haven’t been busting my ass studying for the GRE for nothing (or maybe I have?).

19. remember when you got done with all your math classes in college and heaved a sigh of relief that yes, finally, I SHALL DO NO MORE MATH, FOREVER? Think again.

20. bonus points for anyone who figured out from #19 that I watched the Saved by the Bell episode with “running zack” at the gym this morning.

21. saved by the bell on tbs is one of the only reasons i can get out of bed at 530am to go to the gym.

22. the other is the quality time i get to spend with Roomie — my first roommate and my best friend from college.

23. i *heart* zack morris from saved by the bell. so much so that i will watch ANYTHING Mark-Paul Gosselaar is in. Princess and the Marine? I made my college roommate watch it no fewer than half a dozen times. Dying to Belong? DVR’d it. Just checked imdb and realized he’s in way more than I thought. makes me feel a little less psycho-fan.

24. the drunken debauchery that was my 21st birthday contributed greatly to Roomie and her bf fiancee falling in love. Awh. Also? She would prefer you not ask who the drunk was at the my 21st birthday — but i’ll give you a hint. it wasn’t me.

25. the drunken debauchery that was my 22nd birthday contributed greatly to the 2nd stupidest thing i’ve ever done. that time the drunk was me.

26. the other stupidest thing was a financial mistake, and all i’m going to say is pay your bills kids. you won’t always have a daddy to co-sign a loan.

27. i have 2 other roommates — M & C.  It will probably be a rarity that you hear of them.

28. Roomie and i have often said that we were the only people each other could ever live with before we got married.

29. i love to read. i went through a pretty long “trashy romance novel” phase, but they all started to sound the same. (I cannot read Nora Roberts for this reason.)

30. Nora Roberts’s Montana Sky is one of my favorite books.  I know.  Hypocrite.

31. I have a HUGE to-be-read pile.  i’m pretty much out of the trashy romance and really into memoirs (that aren’t made up, like “A Million Little Pieces.”) and funny chick lit.

32. the best is the combination of funny chick lit and memoirs — ala Jen Lancaster. She’s amazing. Check her out.  Tell her I sent you.

33. If you’re wanting hilarious fiction, check out Meg Cabot.  She wrote The Princess Diaries, which i love, but she has also written a bunch of funny stuff for grown-up girls to read.  Tell her I sent you.  C’mon people, maybe I can get some free books!

34. I worry that one of these days when my boss sneezes, his head might explode.  and friends, that would be a damn shame.  he is very pretty.  doc started calling him ‘hot bossy pants’ which eventually just got shortened to ‘pants.’  even now if he comes up in conversation, we call him pants.  he no longer has a name.  also, the sneezing thing? loud.  and VIOLENT.

35. i rarely watched tv in college.

36. i am now a tv junkie.

37. i have no idea how i’m going to balance grad school, a job, the internet, a social life, and my tv.  thank bob for dvr and that apparently i don’t have to worry about the grad school thing just yet.

38. the tv thing is serious.  bones, svu, house, tori and dean, my boys, army wives, how i met your mother, grey’s anatomy, and i’m totally watching the new 90210.  oh and!  on tnt? raising the bar.  know why? mark-paul gosselaar.

39. concerts i wish i’d seen: alabama. the judds.  elvis.

45. DO NOT ever wear black shoes with brown pants.  ever.

46. contrary to popular belief, khaki is not brown.  is khaki. you may wear black shoes with khaki if it is appropriate.  you’re welcome.

47. i love song lyrics.

48. i hate poetry.

49. i am a complex creature, i know.

52. my mom is one of my best friends.  we may disagree sometimes, but i know she wants nothing more than for me to be happy.

53. i’m not just saying that because she’s reading this (hi mom!).

54. i have met some of my other best friends on the internet — 2 of them will be herein known as doc and ziz.

55. as i write this, i haven’t met either of them in person.

56. by this time next week, that will no longer be true.

57. i think “flowers on the wall” by the statler brothers is one of the coolest songs ever performed.  the eric heatherly version is okay, but i’m a sucker for four-part harmony.

58. i love my job.

59. really. the days it totally blows are way fewer and farther between than the good/great/mediocre ones.

60. i text message like it’s my job.

61. i save the funny ones.

62. and the ones with sentimental value : )

75. i’m going tonight.

76. the plan is to get a sympathy card.

77. i’ll probably come out with a cartload of stuff.

78. i try to live my life by some basic advice from my grandpas and my dad: everything works out how it’s supposed to.  everything happens for a reason.  it’s God’s job to judge, not ours. big people always win. don’t bullshit a bullshitter.

79. not only do i love to read books, i’m hopelessly addicted to magazines.  my current stack includes: glamour. redbook. people. women’s health. self.

80. i used to be a cosmogirl, but i got tired of the “how to make your man do xyz and think it’s his idea!” articles. i’m not much for manipulating my man, thanks.

81. i’m fiercely protective of “my baby cousin” as i call him. i don’t know why, really.  he’s the one who came along and usurped my place as the baby of the family. also, the baby part? he’s 20 years old and has a child of his own.  he’s pretty much a grownup.

82. i love to drive. it’s the best way for me to relax and clear my head.

83. i have a “getting ready” method in the morning. if i deviate from that? effs. me. up.

85. my brownies from a box are better than homemade.  any day of the week.

86. i love to sing.

87. my friend S will call me and say “who sings the song that goes ‘blah blah blah somethin’ somethin’ somethin’ and it’s about a guy who does this thing, and he really loves his wife.’ and i can usually say ‘oh that’s xyz song.’  i probably have 95-97% accuracy.

88. i also know the actual lyrics to nearly every country song.

89. i know every birthday of every one of my friends and every one of my close family members.

90. including year.

91. because of this, my dad calls me rainman.

92. my dad gets a little jealous sometimes of how close my mom and i are. i can’t put into words how much he means to me. he’s the greatest guy i know.  the thing i think he’ll never understand is that the sappy father’s day and birthday cards i get him don’t even cover half of how much he means to me.

93. i’m a princess. in every sense of the word but the literal one. i never went through that phase as a kid, so i adopted it as a lifestyle as an adult.
