bday philanthropy. only not my bday. because i’m sort of shallow.

unlike this kid:

aquarium small

(again, him. not me.) who is turning the big quarter-century today.

my mom decided last year to do a little charity project for christmas.  see, she has 2 sisters and a brother (and parents) and we usually do “family” type gifts — gift certificates for pizza and movies one year, um… i’m sort of drawing a blank for what else she’s done, but anyway! last year she was all “you know, i think for my siblings and my dad and step-mom, i’m going to make donations to the food bank in their towns.  is that stupid?”

of COURSE NOT, Mommy.  so she did. and everyone thought it was BRILLIANT and i’m sure that’s what we’ll do again this year. and by we, i mean them. like i said. shallow-face.

(just kidding. i mean, i like presents and all, but philanthropy is good too.)

so what does this all have to do with the boy in that photo?

well, you see, when i was visiting him a few weeks ago, i asked “so. what do you want for your birthday?”

and he said “there’s this charity.”

blaaaaah.

just kidding again.

as some of you know, i’m a member (though not a super-active one) of the wonderful 20sb.  and also, hands-in, the 20somethingish activism/world-changers group that the lovely and talented nicole antoinette started.

and this charity that randy was talking about?

is one that hands-in and 20sb is working with.

it’s called my charity water dot org.

so.  in honor of my best friend’s 25th bday (or hell. your best friend’s whatever-number-birthday), or being a 20-something blogger, or just because you’re NICE, skip your latte, brown-bag your lunch tomorrow, whatevs. go donate. it makes your heart feel good, i promise.

    I’m a terrible 20sb-er too.

Maybe someday I’ll be really active?
