20sb blog swap: tarablogs about holgas. one of which i must aquire. soonish.
hey lovelies — meme-tastic monday has been preempted for the 6th 20sb blog swap! tara is running the show today, so show her some love in the comments (and of COURSE come visit me over at her place) and i’ll be back tomorrow!
xo,
bsg
hello readers of raeleigh! my name is tara, and i blog over at blogs by tara. i’m kind of in a blogging rut right now, but i’m coming out of it just for you!
the cause for my blogging rut has nothing to do with blogging – i love to blog, and i’ve “met” some really cool people through this space. it’s just that i write thousands of words every day for my jobs (i’m a freelance writer and also a writer at a marketing agency), so sometimes looking at the computer when i come home is just too much, ya know?
anyway (or anyblah, to use raeleigh speak!), in the past few weeks i’ve had the great pleasure of visiting manhattan not once, but twice. i live in upstate new york, about a 6 hour drive from the city. usually i’ll go about once a year, so it’s been nice to take some weekends and visit The Best Place on Earth (Disney has nothing on manhattan). i took the train down, which was a real treat, and i met some really cool people along the way.
while i won’t go on about my trips, i do want to share some of my memories, via photos. these aren’t just ordinary pictures: i recently purchased a film camera (yes! it still exists. i was surprised too), because i embraced my inner hipster (i’m disgusted yet admirable of them) and bought a holga camera. i was so excited to use it on my trips, because what better place to use a hipster camera than the hipster capital of the world?
ps, i mean no offense to hipsters. i really wish i could pull off the look sometimes, but i just look silly. plus, american apparel is expensive, and now they’re selling SCRUNCHIES. gross.
so back to my point (sorry, i get off track sometimes), i just got my film pictures back (holy expensive batman!) and i’m so in love. the beauty of the holga is that you can take multiple pictures on one frame, and sometimes it just naturally messes up, so in addition to the anticipation of getting your film developed, you have these really cool, unique things to enjoy.
without further adieu, here are my holgas! i hope you enjoy them as much as i do.

Great pictures! I just saw NYC for the first time this year and it was fabulous!!! :)
my pictures look twice as nice on your blog! thanks for swapping with me!
and also, to anyone who is interested, i got my holga from urban outfitters. it’s the modified 35mm kind, because i can’t get the regular film (120) developed anywhere around me.
